Cotton Jumper DIY

Happy Holidays everyone!
I'm with my family this week in my hometown, Yakima Washington.

I'll be shooting street style when I get back, but in the meantime here's a DIY story I shot for Frolic the other week. Hannah of Hetterson made this sweet cotton jumper which she embellished with pine trees. Such a fun idea, take any clothing item and spend a few minutes to personalize it.

My favorites this week at Cotton's style gallery is Brae and Linda. If you've been following along you'll have noticed a few past Urban Weeds featured, here's Lauren and Jamie. If I've photographed you for Urban Weeds in the past, and your look featured cotton, feel free to enter it. I'd love to see it up there.

Justin on SW Stark Portland Oregon

I like versatile pieces, something I can walk around in the woods and still go to a restaurant.

sweater: Banana Republic
pants: L.L. Bean
boots: L.L. Bean

I really love this whole look, it's warm, comfortable and makes sense for the Northwest. The cotton oxblood colored pants really makes the entire look. Oxblood is deep enough to be used as a neutral but still add the interest of color. You can find a pair in any price range, Alexander McQueen makes a pair, Dickies makes a pair available at Target, and a corduroy pair from L.L. Bean. Best thing about all of them, they're cotton!

Share your best cotton style at Cotton's Road to the Runway. If you haven't checked in recently, be sure to click over. Lot's of great new street style is up each day. I would love to see more looks from the Northwest, but you can upload your style no matter where you live in America.

Calling all stylish men!!!

I've been busy going through Cotton's Style Gallery and am convinced there needs to be more men up there. Northwest men have a fantastic sense of style. When I'm scouting I see raw denim, great boots, perfect plaids, to more dressy like Melvin's style above.

Busy busy fall...

My, what a busy fall! I've been kept very busy with commercial photography lately shooting for all kinds of fun clients, New Balance, Popeye Magazine from Japan, Club Monaco... above is some work I did with Chelsea of Frolic, see those posts here and here.

I'll be back out scouting for Urban Weeds next week, new posts soon!

Meanwhile, I'm LOVING watching the street style pour into Cotton's America's Style Gallery. Here's my top two submissions from the Northwest so far:

 Katrina K from Seattle
I adore everything about this look; the crisp white shirt, the menswear tie, the smart glasses, the color palette, the feminine shoes and adorable topknot hair. I'm absolutely loving ties on girls right now, such a fun look.

 Tonya S. from Portland
An excellent example of laid back Portland style. The oxfords, the hat, the button up top, and the color palette are all spot on for this region.

Submit your own look here.
Cotton is giving away $1440 per week to a random entry. Enter!

If you're anywhere near Portland, mark your calendars for December 2nd. Cotton will send it's Style Search Squads to Bridgeport Village at 11AM. I'll be there too, come down in your best looks.

Cotton + Street Style

Good news!!!

I've been waiting a while to share this. Trust me, this is going to be fun.

I'm very excited to be working with Cotton Incorporated (yes that Cotton, The Fabric of Our Lives, Cotton) as their Fashion Influencer for the Northwest.

Here's the scoop:
They've divided the nation into 6 different regions. My region is the Northwest. We'll be looking for the best street style in the region. Not only will we be hitting the streets here in Portland, but also in Seattle, Boise and Missoula to showcase the best cotton looks. Don't live in these cities? You can also submit your photo online. Guys, you too. (Do it!)

The best cotton looks will appear on People.com/cotton24hours, I'll be helping to narrow it down to the top 8 to the looks I feel represent the Northwest the best. The public will vote and the best look from the Northwest will:

1. Be Awesome (of course, but then you will also...)
2. Win a trip to South Beach  (where you will...)
3. Get VIP treatment and backstage access at Cottons 24 hour runway show (where your bank account will grow by...)
4. $2,500 cash prize (and also you'll get to)
5. Hang out with me (very cool)

The Northwest winner will attend Cotton's 24 Hour Runway Shot with the other top 5 regional winners check out the top cotton looks from across the nation. I love Northwest style, I'm pretty sure we have this in the bag. C'mon Northwest, represent!
